Making It
Step 1:
Make sure your pot is big enough for your serving. You can half or double the ingredients depending on how big your pot is and how big the party is.
Step 2:
Put the pot on a medium heat and add in half of the black beans. As it heats, stir in half of the chili then half the refried beans. Adding the ingredients from most moisture to least helps it mix well!
Step 3:
Add a good layer of the mexican cheese mix, plus any other cheeses you want. If it’s too soft (cream cheese) or too hard (string cheese) you won’t get as good a melt and it’ll throw off the texture. DO NOT USE CHEETOS!
Step 4:
Stir in the second half of the black beans, chili, and refried beans, again in that order. Or in another order if you want to rebel like that, I’m not your mom.
Step 5:
Keep stirring. Stir some more. Turn the heat up if it’s not getting hot enough, but keep stirring dangit! Is it one uniform texture? Good. Keep stirring. If you dip in a spoon and taste a bit, is it nice and hot? Ok. NOW you can stop stirring.
Step 6:
Take the pot off the stove. Don’t forget to turn the stove off.
Step 7:
YOU THOUGHT WE WERE DONE STIRRING HAHA NOPE! Now you mix in the goldfish! Usually half of the bag is fine, but use your best judgement. You want 1 or 2 crackers in a given spoonful.
Step 8:
Serve to the party of your choice, along with the chips. Can also taste good on bread! Have fun with it, that’s the entire point.
